Baillie Jones
MA Fine Art
Baillie Jones’ paintings are an exploration of the inbetween of abstraction and figuration within painting, the work sits comfortably between the movements. The work focuses on abstracting the human form and conveying movement of the body through layers and washes of oil paint.
The artist uses her own body as a tool of immediacy when creating the work, bringing the figures to life. Through visceral brush strokes, human touch is translated through the brush onto the canvas, endowing a sense of intimacy.
The work is a process of exploring the landscape of the human body and exploring relationships by layering the fragmented figures.
