MA Games
Throughout my MA I have used my skills as a Character artist to explore representation within digital media. As one of the biggest consumed forms of media currently, it is my belief that what we present within video games can drastically influence our society now more than ever.
For my master’s project I decided to explore the divine feminine and recreate my own interpretation of an Ancient Greek Goddess as a CG character, In this instance; Persephone – The Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld. My motivation behind this was explore how we depict women and femininity in the modern age as well as explore and criticize current societal expectations and attitudes of femininity and contrast it with the ideals and expectations of ancient Greece, through the vehicle of the mythos.
This project allowed me to both explore incredibly relevant issues that effect both our society and my chosen industry in great depth as well as explore my skills as a character artist, pushing those skills and taking myself out of my comfort zone with new software and techniques.
