Camille Cabiscuelas
MA Communication Design
I am a Graphic Designer with an Illustration background. I strive to create work which contributes to inclusiveness in visual learning and in the representation of culture in design. Throughout my work I use a range of techniques, from traditional printmaking to cutting-edge design and animation software and used my MA to expand my expertise. I am interested in a variety of design techniques but have a particular passion for typography and user interaction.
During my MA, I drew on my cultural heritage to explore the representation of Filipino language and culture. This can be seen in my project ‘PAO’, where I created a visual identity for Filipino street food, applying this to branding and packaging. My goal was to use Filipino visual culture to bring the food to new audiences.
During my Masters Project ‘KA’, I employed user testing and industry research to design a collection of Baybayin characters which aims to contemporise the ancient Filipino script and bring it to new and diverse audiences. My passion for user experience research is something I will continue to build upon during my upcoming internship with Foolproof.
