Charlie Plumb
MA Moving Image and Sound
My practice has always been informed by the work of past eras.
My MA has given me the opportunity to dig deeper into this, pulling ideas from silent comedy to create new films inspired by the same principles while experimenting relentlessly with medium and style.
Coming to filmmaking from a degree in creative writing, and having written a full-length script for my dissertation, I was anxious to involve myself in other aspects of the process and trying to create projects with a unique creative voice. However I was open to collaboration when the opportunity arose.
I believe strongly in the principle of DIY filmmaking, working quickly and flexibly to create something with a sense of life and vitality and immediacy. I believe that anything we can do to make the creation of art more accessible to everyone is imperative.
I like to consider myself an all-rounder: over the course of my MA I have acted as writer, cinematographer, director, actor, producer, composer and animator to various degrees.
