Hannah Gooding
MA Photography
Hannah Gooding is a multidisciplinary artist who explores photography and moving image, challenging the boundaries of these mediums to create safe spaces for connection and female empowerment.
Hannah is interested in the roles that visual language plays in shaping and reshaping our behaviour. Research undertook for this project analysed the correlation between film and normalising sexual violence in everyday culture.
Rewind is a collection of still and moving image inspired by the Rewind Therapy. The piece seeks to give voice and representation of a shared but silent experience. The moving image consists of captions rather than sound to further communicate the taboo around trauma conversation.
The moving image has been created through mirror image, duplicating parts of the sequence which have either been reversed or fast forwarded. The performance also acts as a mirror between the two subjects aiming to reflect the shared experience of many individuals.
