Izzie Finnerty
MA Curation
Hi! I’m Izzie, an MA Curation graduate with an enthusiasm for engaging people in the arts and showcasing the benefits of artmaking.
My practice is predominantly focused on community and using creativity to bring people together. Throughout my degree at NUA, I expanded my understanding of community arts programmes and the benefits they can have on our society and wellbeing.
I began to develop an appreciation for how the arts can specifically benefit our mental health and used this opportunity and my curatorial skills to build a space for people to share their stories and come together to see the benefits of creativity for themselves.
Throughout my time at NUA, I explored how my practice can transcend the traditional boundaries of curation and combine the worlds of artist and curator. I gained experience building creative spaces in a variety of forms, these include publications, workshops and virtual galleries.
With my work I will continue to build spaces which inspire creativity and allow anyone to unlock the benefits of art making, as I strongly believe art should be as accessible as possible and should be positively encouraged outside of traditional institutions.
