I have focused my practice on combining drawn 2D and 3D CGI animation techniques to create an evidence of concept for a short animated film, Wish You Were Here. The story shows the character’s experience of positive alteration to her sense of wellbeing through the changing coastline, visually inspired by the small coastal town of Dunwich in Suffolk.
My interest of wildlife conservation and the natural environment inspires my sketching and photography in my free time, and has also influenced my creative practice in using visuals and sound design. During the lockdown period, I have persevered on my course, managing my time effectively to learn techniques to combine 2D and 3D animation mediums, soundscapes, and film language to improve my storytelling skills.
Working on the MA has given me confidence to experiment with sound design and animated visuals, which I look forward to implementing to my practices in the future. I am looking for collaborative or industry work in 2D drawn animation, 3D CGI animation, as well as static and moving 2D illustration. I am eager to work with new people, gain further experience working in a team, and work hard to create exciting and innovative concepts.
I find animation an uncontained form of creativity that can be utilised to tell stories in fun, unusual, profound and beautiful ways. My experimentation into moving image and sound has shown me that visual storytelling is truly limitless.
