My name is Mingyo Choi, a 3D environment artist and level designer. I learned to think more creatively and express my ideas on the Norwich University of the Arts postgraduate course. My Masters project is about studying global warming and the culture of Venice. The positive and negative factors which people can feel were found through the survey, and these were reflected in the design concept.
The story behind the work is that future scientists have experimented with different methods to solve rising sea levels and the frequent flooding of Venice in the world I created.
In the process, they have discovered how a city can be floating: a combination of a turbine engine and air balloons. The marketplace has been built using these ideas in Campo Manin, Venice, the current location. The cyberpunk genre combines visual aspects of the past and the future to express a possible vision of Venice.
The atmosphere of the market is created with mechanical elements and Gothic, modern architecture. The environment has been shown at night with rain, puddles, and fog to describe humid and suitable temperatures. The common assets of the level were made of trim sheets and modular assets using Maya, Substance Designer, painter, Quixel, and Unreal Engine.
