Richard Wood
I am a Graphic Designer committed to working on projects with positive social impact. Building upon the experiences and insights provided by my prior background in healthcare, I have focussed on socially-engaged design projects throughout my MA. I am especially interested in interventions to promote wellbeing and good mental health.
This has been reflected in my Master’s Project – ‘Chatterbox’. ‘Chatterbox’ is a mail-order kit intended to address the high levels of loneliness reported in the UK by fostering connections within local communities. The project seeks to encourage neighbours to interact through small, meaningful connections that are sadly less common due to the impact of coronavirus restrictions.
My previous work throughout the MA course has allowed me to explore emerging technologies, leading to the production of a variety of print projects which employ augmented reality elements. I am continuing to explore these exciting technologies in my ongoing professional practice.
I run a small design and print business, Rizzo Studio, where I focus on ethical, environmentally sustainable design for individuals and organisations with shared values. I have a particular passion for print design and also offer Risograph and other specialist print services for both creative and commercial clients.
