MA Moving Image and Sound
I am a writer, editor, sound designer and composer.
My MA started pre-pandemic, and since then I’ve had to develop a very flexible skill-set to create effectively both with and without access to university facilities. I’ve worked on shoe-string budgets with minimal equipment in a sound studio made of egg boxes, and produced industry-quality music and audio projects.
Working with university equipment and collaborating with other students both graduate and undergraduate, I’ve produced an extremely ambitious sci-fi film inspired by the covid lockdown and the grim future we all face if our attitude to the pandemic doesn’t change.
All of my work is highly socially and politically conscious and informed, and I work hard to ensure that the message of everything I create is clear and powerful to anyone who engages with it. Personally, I find that science fiction is the best medium for my expression – I feel like it offers opportunities for abstraction and ideological distance that are hard to find in other genres – and most of what I create usually falls somewhere under that umbrella.
