I’m an illustrator and designer based in Norwich, UK with an interest in preserving folklore, mythology, legends, and traditional forms of expressed culture.
My fascination with folktales has led me to spend my MA time studying how they have evolved through time and the different anthropological ways to interpret them.
Making books is an important part of my design process, and the MA has helped me develop technical skills from storyboards to finished book designs. Whilst merging old folktales with my new concept designs, I experimented with the transfer of my traditional mixed media artworks onto digital and printed platforms, using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
My final project was based around myths from three different regions, each of which tries to explain their origin and culture. My hope is that the reader will be enveloped by an explosion of visual imagery as if the big bang itself were taking place within the pages of the book.
