I am freelance concept artist with a keen interest in pseudo-history, mythology and marginalised attributes of South Asian culture. Completing an MA in Games has transformed my practice by enhancing my research, technical skills and resilience. The year has focussed on gaining insight into my personal Kashmiri heritage and learning the lore that has surrounded the region since antiquity. By conducting family interviews exploring Kashmir’s socio-political status, I was able to piece together the fragments of these oral legends and formulate my own narrative accompanied by artworks that would bring it to life.
I have developed a diverse skillset which amalgamates my traditional drawing skills and digital competency with mediums such as Photoshop and photography. My journey throughout this MA has made me passionate about selecting specific eras and experiences that challenge the pre-existing notions of South Asian culture that have been circulated in mainstream media and bringing them into an exciting and engaging light. For this, I have taken inspiration from titles such as the Assassin’s Creed and Prince of Persia franchises from world history and strong cross-cultural references. The exploratory nature of my practice has made me open to future collaborations and group projects
