Vicky Bass
MA Communication Design
I am a queer artist, film maker and singer/songwriter. Much of my work throughout my Masters has focused on using phenomenological methodologies to help communicate my ideas. I have been focusing on perfecting my digital and film making skills in order to ensure that I can create films to a professional standard. These skills include pacing, camera angles, using Adobe Premier Pro, storyboarding, animation and stop motion animation.
For my final Masters Project I created a nonbinary, queer music video to accompany one of my original songs that also reflects upon the social climate we are living in with the Covid outbreak. I have sought to gain a deeper understanding of my own personal experiences and throughout this unit I have been endeavoring to find ways in which I can depict these creatively through allegory and metaphor. It was important for me to break barriers of heteronormativity and challenge gender stereotypes in order to represent the queer community in as an inclusive a way as possible. I developed my own methods of reducing the binary of society. By considering these points I was able to create a cohesive body of work that represents my personal experiences as a queer person.
